Single-A – T-Ball (Ages 4–6)
Introduction to Baseball:
Single-A is the entry-level division for our youngest players. All 4-year-olds must play two seasons in this division.
Five-year-olds who are new to baseball are also expected to spend two seasons here, unless moved up with coach, parent, and board approval.
First-time 6-year-olds will typically remain in Single-A unless their skills or size suggest they’re ready for AA.
Practices focus on learning the basics—how to hit from a tee, catch, throw, and run the bases.
During games, coaches pitch to the players, but a tee is used as needed to support development and build confidence.
AA – Coach/Machine Pitch (Ages 6–8)
AA is a developmental division for 6- and 7-year-olds who have completed a season in T-Ball and are ready to advance.
8-year-olds may also play in AA but are eligible to try out for AAA.
In AA, players hit off of a coach or machine pitch, which helps them build hand-eye coordination and timing.
Practices focus on fielding, throwing, hitting fundamentals, and learning to make plays. The goal is to prepare players for the transition to player-pitch baseball in AAA.
AAA – Player Pitch (Ages 8–10)
AAA is the introduction to competitive play and the first level with player pitching, scoring, and umpires.
Players are placed through an evaluation process, and 10-year-olds who do not attend tryouts are automatically assigned to a AAA team.
8-year-olds may be considered for AAA if they played AA the previous season and attend evaluations.
Older players (10–12) who are evaluated may be drafted into Majors if spots are available.
Safety waivers allow some 11- and 12-year-olds to play AAA when appropriate.
This division is a critical bridge, helping players sharpen their skills and understanding of the game before moving on to Majors.
Majors – Competitive Division (Ages 10–12)
Majors is the most competitive level within Little League for ages 10 to 12.
All players are evaluated and drafted based on skill and readiness.
Players not evaluated are randomly assigned to teams.
The division focuses on high-level skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and game strategy in a supportive but competitive environment.
9-year-olds may be eligible for Majors if they meet all of the following:
- They have played at least one year in AAA.
- They participated in an FPLL-approved tryout and were approved by the Independent Evaluation Committee.
- They have parent or guardian consent.
Intermediate (50/70) – Ages 13
This division bridges the gap between Little League and full-sized baseball fields.
Games are played on a larger field with a 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths.
Players are introduced to advanced rules like leading off, stealing, and pick-off moves.
Teams are formed via draft based on player evaluations and may participate in inter-league or inter-district games depending on availability.
Challenger Division – Adaptive Baseball (Ages 6–12+)
The Challenger Division is Little League’s adaptive program for youth with physical and intellectual challenges.
Each player is paired with a "Buddy" to assist during practices and games.
This inclusive program is open to players ages 4–18 (or up to 22 if still enrolled in school).
If a player can reasonably participate in standard Little League with accommodations, they are encouraged to do so.
**For T-Ball and AA divisions, managers may request to coach a specific group of players.
While FPLL will consider all coach and player requests during team formation, we cannot guarantee that all requests will be accommodated.**
